Average distance

The Proximity Statistics calculate the average travel distances between persons at inhabited addresses and different facilities, such as general practitioners, libraries and schools. Such calculations are now possible for both cycle routes and car routes.

The Proximity Statistics only include facilities within the Netherlands, but for people living in border areas, facilities outside the Netherlands may in fact be closer.

Primary education

Schools in primary education, excluding special primary education.

Secondary school

School in secondary education. Secondary education includes:

  • pre-university education (VWO), including the International Baccalaureate;
  • senior general secondary education (HAVO), including the English Pathway;
  • prevocational secondary education (VMBO);
  • elementary vocational training (praktijkonderwijs).
