The Summary provides a concise overview of the developments in the themes of well-being ‘here and now’, ‘later’ and ‘elsewhere’ and shows how the Netherlands is performing with regard to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Chapter 1, Trends in well-being, provides an overarching narrative of well-being in the Netherlands based on detailed descriptions of indicators for well-being ‘here and now’, ‘later’ and ‘elsewhere’. This chapter also deals briefly with the links with the results of the Dutch ecosystem accounts concerning the use of the – scarce – space available in the Netherlands and the link between the circular economy and the SDGs.
Well-being ‘here and now’ is not distributed evenly among the population groups and regions in the Netherlands. See Chapter 3 Distribution of well-being and the Regional Monitor of Well-being.
Chapter 4, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Dutch context, describes individual well-being themes grouped in accordance with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
Lastly, Chapter 5 considers the resilience of the underlying systems of our well-being, now and in the future.
The outcomes of the Monitor of Well-being & the Sustainable Development Goals 2022 cannot be readily compared with the figures in previous editions, for example because preliminary figures have been replaced by final figures, different sources have been used or time series have been revised.
